Join us at the Museum of Liverpool on Saturday 2 June 2018 from 1-4pm for a drop-in afternoon exploring the Larrinaga shipping company and their legacy in Liverpool. Join us for a quick visit, or stay all afternoon - it's up to you! There will be talks, opportunities to see relevant items from the Museum collections up close, and the chance to share your stories about your Larrinaga connections. If you've been to the Museum of Liverpool's Global City gallery, you might have seen Valencia Rd in the 'Where in the World?' exhibit. Here's a little bit more information about Valencia House, home of the fruit broker William Alexander McGeorge, which gave its name to today's street.

James C Houghton was part of Liverpool's close-knit circle of fruit merchants with close connections in Portugal and Madeira. He built this impressive villa, named for the elegant Portuguese country estates where he did much of his business, during the 1860s, but lived in it for less than ten years.

The afternoon includes a demonstration of the community collection (1.30pm), and the premiere of Jon Turton's short film about Hispanic Liverpool (2.30pm).
