      <title>Rhyme, but no reason? Latin and English fun in the Early Modern Period</title>
      <link>https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/ren/snls/news/?newsItem=8a17841a8aad4802018abc80b3ed6d87</link>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;Latin was everywhere in the early modern period &amp;ndash; it was the language of education and the lingua franca, used in letters, science and literature. Many English authors of the period wrote in Latin and English or combined both. During this workshop, we will look at literature in which authors use a combination of English and Latin to humorous effect. We will discuss examples of verse and plays - in particular, a comedy called Ignoramus, of which we will perform a passage.&lt;/p&gt;
