Transatlantic Teaching Exchange Series – Starts February

Join a six‑session virtual series bringing together students and staff from Warwick, Elon University, the University of Leeds, and partner institutions across the US, UK and Canada.

The sessions run monthly from February to May, Wednesdays 4–5pm (GMT) on MS Teams, exploring topics such as teaching excellence, sustainability, belonging, AI in education, assessment for learning, and building transatlantic partnerships.

British Conference of Undergraduate Research 2026 - call for abstracts is OPEN

The highly regarded national multidisciplinary conference is for students to present their research and connect with other researchers. The conference will take place at the University of Glasgow, 1-2 April 2026.

Abstract submission deadline is 11:59PM (UK time) on Friday, 9 January 2026.

IATL Staff-Student Presentation at LSE

Vivan Joseph (IATL Teaching Fellow) and Olivia Gunn (final year, Warwick Psychology with Education) will be giving a presentation on IATL's Research-Infused Curriculum at the 2025 Interdisciplinary Teaching and Learning Conference at the LSE on Thursday 10th April. Their talk will showcase IATL's approach to infusing research into our curriculum, from interdisciplinary teaching and learning to student research for assessments through to the presentation of that research to a wider audience.

Sign up for Abstract Writing Workshops for WorldCUR-BCUR 2023 held on Microsoft Teams. Tuesday 1st of November 2022 @ 8am UTC Wednesday 2nd of November 2022 @ 4pm UTC We will guide you through the abstract writing process, including the 4 questions What? Why? So What? Now What? And how to construct these into a coherent abstract. We will explore how to frame your language for an international and interdisciplinary audience. We will discuss the importance of your title and different Forms of Presentation to engage with your audience.

Students from IATL's Science of Music module visited the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire last term as part of IATL's new collaboration with students and staff from the Conservatoire. Several students from the Conservatoire took the opportunity to do a work placement as part of their studies by supporting Warwick staff on the module while, in return, Warwick students were able to explore the different musical performance spaces and acoustics in the new Conservatoire building. Angel Addo blogged the day.

"IATL’s funding was integral in my show’s success. My show ‘an evening with verse writer’ is a poetry play fused with music and art.

The funding allowed me to support student artists within university and beyond. Shown in the Coventry Shop Front Theatre, ‘ an evening with verse writer ‘ successfully opened a space for honest conversations.

It also won an Artistic Development Award and has now been commissioned for 2 nights - October 2 and October 3 in the Warwick Arts Centre.

British Science Festival

Members of the teaching team of IATL’s Science of Music module, including Dr Oksana Trushkevych, Dr Gavin Bell, Dr Sue Burrows, Tim Cunningham and the Coull Quartet, gave a talk and musical performance at the Guildhall in Coventry on the opening day of the British Science Festival. IATL’s tutors explained in their talk how sound waves are made, how they travel through the air and how they’re perceived, referencing their teaching on the Science of Music module and research in Ultrasound.

IATL goes to America

In August a group of educators and learners gathered from across the world to attend the annual Digital Pedagogy Lab at the University of Mary Washington, Virginia. IATL’s Senior Teaching Fellows, Naomi de la Tour and Elena Riva co-taught a 5 day course, Education, Agency and Change, which was grounded in contemplative critical pedagogy. The group of 17 worked together to co-create a collegiate, reflective and critical space in which we sought to support each other in asking questions of our assumptions, experiences and practices as educators and the systems in which we work. Naomi was present in Virginia, with Elena co-teaching the group remotely over zoom and other technologies. They found this an opportunity for asking questions about the nature of online learning, the possibilities and challenges for building community and inclusion in online spaces, and the ways in which education can be reimagined and enacted.
