IATL Project Support Funding

Applications for IATL Project Support Funding 2026 are now open. The application deadline is Wednesday 1 April at 23:59.

IATL provides funding and support for student-led research projects. This year’s call for student-led projects centres around student research: successful projects will be aligned with one or more of the guiding themes outlined, and must include undergraduate(s) on the research team.

If you would like to speak to a member of the Student Research team about your project idea before you submit a proposal, you can book a drop-in session online: IATL Project Support Drop-In. Applications must be submitted by Wednesday 1^st April 2026 at 23.59 UK time.

The IATL's Den is now taking applications

Advancing Student Wellbeing: Prof Elena Riva's New Publication on the ABCs of Mental Health at the University

We are pleased to announce that Prof Elena Riva has published a new paper on the "ABCs of Mental Health at the University" (ABC-uni), a multi-level intervention designed to promote mental well-being across university settings. This research, the result of an ongoing collaboration with the University of Copenhagen, highlights IATL's continued innovation in higher education, particularly in the area of student wellbeing and mental health support.

Elena Riva Awarded ERCF and Erasmus+ Pedagogic Research Grants

Prof Elena Riva has recently been awarded an Enhancing Research Culture Funding (ECRF) grant of £35,508 by the National Centre for Research Culture, as well as a €400,000 Erasmus+ grant from the European Commission in collaboration with three other institutions across Europe. Both projects will focus on better understanding and increasing wellbeing literacy for diverse communities in higher education, as well as exploring healthy digital teaching and learning, demonstrating IATL’s commitment to being at the forefront of research-led education innovation.

Then & Now: History of the Faculty of Arts

The Then & Now project was conceived by Dr. Kathryn Woods, formerly Director of Student Experience for the Arts Faculty, to coincide with the faculty’s move into a new building in 2021. The main research aim of this student-led project was to explore the experiences of Arts and Humanities students at Warwick from 1965 to the present. In addition to tapping directly into the experiences of current and former students through oral history interviews, the project examined the art and architectural heritage of the Humanities building, the evolution and expansion of the courses and departments within the faculty, the extra-curricular sides of student life (socialising, sports and societies, student politics) which contribute so much to the vibrancy of Warwick’s campus, and attitudes towards inclusivity and widening participation.

"IATL’s funding was integral in my show’s success. My show ‘an evening with verse writer’ is a poetry play fused with music and art.

The funding allowed me to support student artists within university and beyond. Shown in the Coventry Shop Front Theatre, ‘ an evening with verse writer ‘ successfully opened a space for honest conversations.

It also won an Artistic Development Award and has now been commissioned for 2 nights - October 2 and October 3 in the Warwick Arts Centre.

IATL/IAS Early Career Teaching Fellowship Competition 2018

The purpose of the role is to work with Warwick's Institute for Advanced Teaching and Learning (IATL) and Institute of Advanced Study (IAS) to develop interdisciplinary pedagogy (examples include, but are not limited to: open-space learning, the digital, medical or environmental humanities, education for sustainability and eco-pedagogy, wellbeing, innovation and entrepreneurship, community engagement, widening participation, humanitarian engineering and undergraduate research). IATL win co-developed bid for funding from the HEFCE Catalyst Fund

Elena Riva (IATL) and Louise Gracia (Dean of Students) recently co-developed a successful bid for funding from the ‘HEFCE Catalyst Fund: Supporting mental health and wellbeing for postgraduate research students’.

It will result in a collaborative, cross-institutional project co-led by IATL, the Dean of Students and the Graduate School. This project also involves Mental Health and Wellbeing (MHW), Counselling Services, Warwick Sport, the Library, and Warwick Business School (WBS).'

Our Student as Producer grants provide an opportunity for students to lead a performance, research or collaboration project, with up to £2,000 available per project. Our Performance Festival Bursaries, of up to £500 each, support student performance projects taking place outside the University, such as at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
