      <description>&lt;p&gt;The &lt;a href="https://www.aston.ac.uk/research/eps/ebri/net-zero-doctoral-training"&gt;Net2Zero&lt;/a&gt; focuses on the use of biomass to replace fossil fuels and removal (or capture) of CO&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt; from the atmosphere, with the potential to create new sources of fuels and chemicals. The centre&#8217;s expertise covers Direct Air Capture and CO&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt; storage (DACCS); CO&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt; utilisation; biochar synthesis and utilisation; biomass transition to materials and chemicals; and biomass to energy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS).&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <title>PoC project &#8216;MetaHydro&#8217; from the European Research Council (ERC)</title>

      <description>&lt;p&gt;Prof Rebrov was awarded with his second ERC PoC project. In the new PoC project, we use TDLAS for detection of low concentration of H&lt;sub&gt;2&lt;/sub&gt; in different gas mixtures using an IR-laser which utilizes a 2122 nm laser diode combined with a novel circular multipass gas absorption cell. The new laser offers an order of magnitude improvement in laser linewidth compared to traditional DFB designs. A major advantage of this technology is a less complex fabrication process, achieving good consistency of characteristics across the wafer and excellent suitability for high volume applications that need precise, custom wavelengths.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

Prof Evgeny Rebrov is a coordinator of this innovative project. The project proposal has also been awarded a Seal of Exellence.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
