The Global Mentoring Programme is pleased to promote embracing diversity, through this inspiring online webinar on Thursday 6th October, 12:30-14:00 GMT, hosted by Nita Lad.

"Is hybrid working really fostering an inclusive culture, or does it bring further challenges?"

"How is this working for leaders, employers, workers?"

WBS is launching a new series called Embracing Diversity to increase understanding of intersectionality and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. We’ll have debates, keynotes with enlightening interactive sessions about the opportunities and challenges facing leaders and organisations. We’ll have leaders from all intersections of business and society.

Mentoring Tips and Tricks

It was wonderful to see our mentors and mentees at the recent Mentor and Mentee Exchanges which were held on the 16th and 17th of August.

The sessions allowed us to learn from you and what you would like to see from us. One of these was to be able to share tips and tricks, not only from the perspective of your fellow mentees, but also to discover what mentors found productive.

What can we say? You request, we do it!

Sanjiv Patel Steps Down from being Co-Chair of the Steering Committee

After dedicating nearly a decade of his time to volunteering for the Steering Committee and then becoming a Co-Chair, Sanjiv has now stepped down from the position of Co-Chair within the Steering Committee.

We are incredibly thankful for everything he has done as Co-Chair, and pleased that he will continue to be a part of the SteerCo group. Taking up the post in his place will be Gary Lloyd, another experienced and longtime volunteer within the Steering Committee.

Mentoring Checklists

When you begin your mentoring relationship with your mentor, it can be challenging to establish priorities.

The mentoring checklist specifically catered towards mentees can help with this, and provide pointers to get your mentoring relationship up and running.

However, the checklist and other Resources in the Mentee Area can also serve as a reminder to those whose relationships are ongoing too - to help the process along. Feel free to take a look!

Did you know that you can access the Careers Homepage as a student or graduate of WBS? It can be useful when you are searching for new opportunities in your field, or are interested in alumni events!

We also have a Career Management Module which can provide the foundation for your future career activities if you feel confused or unsure about your potential. Some of the sub-modules include networking, how to market yourself and career transitions.

IiP Announcement: Re-Accredited Once More

Having been re-accredited for the third time in a row since 2016, there is much to celebrate. The IiP Accreditation has been regained until 2025, and we have the wonderful mentors and mentees of the global mentoring programme to thank for that!

A big thank you to all the volunteer WBS Mentors who help support their mentees and an extra thank you to those who participated in the IiP interviews. It really makes a difference.

Fantastic ... brilliant ... just a couple of the words from attendees on Thursday's event.

This truly was a global event, with attendees and panellists joining from as far as Sydney and Singapore to Delhi, Dubai, Devon and Doncaster ... and so many places inbetween!

Folks online enjoyed getting together in small groups, as did those at The Shard as well as Marcus Dimbley's "Diversity of Thought" ... and the fabulous tip "Think, Write, Share" not to mention the celebratory panel discussion.

The perfect opportunity reconnect and re-engage, as stated by one of our mentors:

“ ..It (the Shard celebration event) was great – made me feel part of this bigger community”
