Temporarily closure of the accessible bays by Engineering (Science Block F)

The accessible parking bays near Engineering (Science Block F) will be temporarily unavailable from 9th April to 20th April to allow essential roofing works to take place.

We recognise that these bays are important for many of our community. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the works and associated health and safety requirements, the bays will need to remain closed for the duration of this period. We will continue to work closely with the contractor and will look to reopen the bays earlier where it is safe and possible to do so.

Blue Badge holders are encouraged to use the service vehicle area adjacent to the existing accessible bays near Science Block A, where possible.

We understand this may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience while these essential works are carried out.

Lynchgate car park: Lift unavailable on 7 April

Kirby Corner Car Park: Lift and EV Units unavailable on 21 March

Temporary traffic management on Lord Bhattacharyya Way from Monday 9th March

From Monday 9th March for approximately 2 weeks, temporary traffic management will be in place on Lord Bhattacharyya Way to allow for the replacement of the STEM hoarding.

During the works, stop and go traffic control will be in operation. Some minor delays may occur while the works are being carried out.

Temporary traffic management on Library Road: 9 February - 22 February 2026

From Monday 9 February, temporary traffic management will be in place at the Library Road entrance for approximately 2 weeks. This will include a single-lane closure and temporary traffic lights.

Access for all vehicles will be maintained throughout the works, however large articulated lorries may experience difficulty exiting. To manage this safely, the contractor will coordinate their exit via the bollards adjacent to the Humanities building.

Partial closure of Millburn House car park: Tuesday 25th November 2025

On Tuesday 25 November 2025, there will be a partial closure of the Millburn House car park to allow for the safe use of a crane during the installation of a new air handling unit on the building's roof.

During this time, access to parking spaces will be restricted to ensure safety for staff, students and visitors.

Please note that the closure affects the same section of the Millburn House car park shown in the aerial image included in the 13 November update here. The area marked there will again be inaccessible on 25 November.

Alternative car parking can be located within the Kirby Corner car park or Westwood Campus.

On Thursday 13 November 2025, there will be a partial closure of the Millburn House car park to allow for the safe use of a crane during the installation of a new air handling unit on the building's roof.

Global Illuminations Traffic Guidance: Wednesday 19th November 2025

The Global Illuminations Procession, part of the 60th Anniversary celebrations, is taking place on Wednesday 19th November, with a light procession making its way through central campus from approx. 17:00 – 19:00 following the route below. We are expecting around 1500 students, staff, and members of the local community to take part and anticipate the procession taking between 60 to 90 minutes.

The nature of the approved route will mean there will be traffic delays on the evening. On this day we would advise that you avoid parking on central campus in car parks 15 (NAIC), 8/8a (Junction) & 6 (Health Centre) if you will need to leave campus after 17:00. Cryfield Village, Kirby Corner and Westwood will not be affected. Lynchgate car park could be used as an alternative as it is a very close walk to central campus and has an easy exit route away from the procession.

Kirby Corner car park: (ground floor and 50% of outdoor section): Tues 23rd - Sun 28th
Lakeside, Sherbourne & Heronbank: Thurs 25th - Sun 28th
Milking Parlour: Thurs 25th - Sun 28th
Coach Park: Thurs 25th - Sun 28th
Car Park 8a: Thurs 25th - Sun 28th
Claycroft yard: Thurs 25th - Sun 28th
Cryfield accommodation yard: Thurs 25th - Sun 28th
Car Park 6: Thurs 25th - Sun 28th
Arden House: Thurs 25th - Sun 28th

We would encourage general users to park in Car Park 15 adjacent to the Professor Lord Bhattacharyya building,Link opens in a new window and staff or visitors to park in the Lynchgate car parkLink opens in a new window during this period, as the surrounding areas and roads may get busy.

Fleet, service and delivery vehicles will be required to follow instructions provided by operatives on the ground to ensure there is minimal disruption to the process whilst allowing the vehicle drivers to continue with their duties. This may include parking locations or temporary one-way systems in place.

Temporary diversion to Library Road & WMG Concourse from Wednesday 21/05/2025 - Wednesday 28/05/2025

From Wednesday 21/05/2025, there will be a partial closure on Lord Bhattacharyya Way. Access to the EIC service yard will be maintained, however there will be a temporary diversion to Library Road & WMG Concourse from the Academic Loop Road until Wednesday 28/05/2025.
