Jack Attends the RSC

Last week Jack attended the Royal Society of Chemistry's Technician relaunch event. At it the RSC launched their plan to support technicians in the chemical sciences. While there Jack was presented with his award from the 2025 RSC prizes, and was given the chance to present some of the research that led to the award.

RTProf Jack Woolley wins RSC Technical Excellence Prize

Fantastic news that our Research Technology Professional, Dr Jack Woolley, has been awarded the Technical Excellence Prize by the Royal Society of Chemistry for "providing outstanding technical and scientific support to users of the Warwick Centre for Ultrafast Spectroscopy, enabling many researchers to conduct impactful science." Well done, Jack, on a brilliant achievement!

BoostCrop team wins prestigious RSC Horizon Prize

The BoostCrop team, which originated at Warwick and led by Prof. Vasilios Stavros (now University of Birmingham), has been named winner of the Royal Society of Chemistry’s Horizon Prizes, which celebrate discoveries and innovations that push the boundaries of science. Staff involved at Warwick still include: Ed Greenough, James Lloyd-Hughes, Adrian Fowle and Jack Woolley. [Read more]

UK-wide Equipment Sharing Fund

Do you need access to specialist research equipment or facilities not available at your institution?

The UK-wide Equipment Sharing Fund is currently open for applications. This fund provides support to visit and use cutting-edge equipment and technical expertise showcased in the ITSS Technology Capabilities Showcase – a national platform highlighting technician-led facilities across the UK.

There are currently 210 facilities already featured and open for collaboration

If your project could benefit from this type of access, apply for funding now – whether you’re looking to test an idea, generate data, or spark a new collaboration. The deadline for this round of funding is 16th May.

Equipment Sharing Fund

The Equipment Sharing Fund allows researchers, PhD students and Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) to access cutting-edge research equipment, not available in their home institution. Funds cover the cost of initial analysis, helping to strengthen collaboration opportunities and ensure value for money within the UK’s research and innovation ecosystem. The fund opens for three rounds and will provide the full economic cost (fEC) or TRAC rate directly to the facility. Find out when the fund opens and more about the criteria.

Emerging Investigators in Materials Science Award

One of the latest publications to make use of the Warwick Centre for Ultrafast Spectroscopy has been awarded an emerging investigator award by the IOP. Congratulations to all the authors, which included three other RTP's here at Warwick.

Congratulations to Daniel on his poster prize

Congratulations to Daniel Coxon on winning first prize in the poster competition at Warwick Chemistry's ChemContext event. Daniel is working on defects in Diamond at the Warwick Centre for Ultrafast Spectroscopy and presented a poster titled "The Crystal Maze".
