 och\, Chief Data Reporter at the Financial Times John Burn-Murdoch is th
 e Chief Data Reporter at the Financial Times. He is renowned as a pionee
 ring data journalist\, a job involving the processing of large amounts o
 f data\, enabling readers to comprehend and digest information which pai
 nts big pictures and tells nuanced stories alike. John has worked at the
  Financial Times since 2013. Prior to that he worked for The Guardian an
 d for Which? magazine having started his career as a sports reporter for
  the Doncaster Free Press. He is also a visiting lecturer at City\, Univ
 ersity of London\, covering topics as diverse as story development\, web
  scraping\, data cleaning and digital cartography. John’s educational ba
 ckground is an MSc in Data Science from the University of Dundee\, an MA
  in Interactive Journalism from City\, University of London\, and for hi
 s undergraduate studies a BSc in Geography from Durham University. An In
 troduction to John's Work During the Covid-19 pandemic John’s reporting 
 driven by analysis and interpretation of public health and other data in
 dicating the likely course and impact of the public health crisis became
  a touchstone for decision makers\, pundits\, and ordinary people across
  the world. The Financial Times audience rose from its baseline of thous
 ands into the millions\, as John’s Covid-19 trajectory tracker charts in
 formed public debate and impacted decision making across all sectors of 
 the economy and public life. He has also recently worked on topics inclu
