  004\, from 12:30pm - 1pm. Title: Combined physics-based and data-driven
  modelling strategies for gas solubility in polymers Abstract: Polymer m
 embranes play a central role in several energy and environmental applica
 tions\, including CO2 capture\, gas purification\, biodegradable packagi
 ng and hydrogen storage and transport. Their tailored design and improve
 d performance can contribute significantly towards Net Zero targets. How
 ever\, modelling the properties of polymeric materials is challenging\, 
 due to the broad range of time and length scales over which they manifes
 t themselves\, requiring the design and application of multiscale and mu
 lti-method modelling frameworks. This talk will discuss different multis
 cale and combined physics-based/data-driven strategies for modelling gas
  solubility in polymers at high pressures\, showing how molecular simula
 tions\, equations of state\, and machine learning methods can be integra
 ted to boost predictive accuracy and computational efficiency. Bio: Eleo
 nora Ricci joined the University of Edinburgh as a Lecturer in 2023. Pre
 viously\, she was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellow at the Na
 tional Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos”\, Athens\, Greece. In
  2021 she was a postdoctoral researcher and Adjunct Professor of Molecul
 ar Simulation Fundamentals at the university of Bologna. She obtained a 
 PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Bologna\, Italy (2020
 ). Academic Qualifications: PhD in Chemical Engineering\, 2020\, Univers
