In Memoriam: Kiyan Kassam

The University is deeply saddened to report the death of undergraduate student, Kiyan Kassam, on Monday 18 November.

Kiyan was a first year student, studying Sociology.

Virinder Kalra, Head of the Sociology department, says:

”The Sociology department is deeply saddened at the loss of Kiyan Kassam, a first year, who was a delightfully warm, wise and welcoming soul. He was a joy in our classes and much liked by his peers and lecturers alike. We remain dismayed by this loss and will treasure those memories of him as forged during his brief time with us.”

There will be a book of condolence arranged in the near future, located in the chaplaincy.

The funeral will be taking place on Thursday 21 November at Balham Mosque at 1pm.

The burial will take place at Morden Cemetery at 2pm

A dinner will follow at Memon Hall, 3 Weir Road, Balham, SW12 0LT.
