The University is deeply saddened by the news of the death of Simi Sahota, undergraduate student in Life Sciences, who sadly passed away on Saturday 6 August 2016. Our thoughts are with those close to her at this time.
Her personal tutor, Leanne Williams, said:
Anyone fortunate enough to get to know Simi knew that she was a remarkable young woman who dealt with adversity on a daily basis. Despite this she was fully determined to achieve what she could on her own merits with no expectation of help from others for which she was greatly admired. Simi had a unique and pragmatic outlook on life which humbled those of us who knew her. She will be remembered for her kindness, bravery and beaming smile. Simi touched the hearts of students and staff alike and will be greatly missed."
In lieu of flowers, those closest to her have asked that instead donations could be made in her memory to UHCW's children's appeal.
Simi's funeral will be held on Thursday 8th September 1.00pm at Canley crematorium, (Charter chapel, Coventry) – Simi’s aunt invites anyone to attend who would like to. The funeral will be followed by a private family service at the temple.
