My current role as Director for Initial Teacher Training (FE and Skills) requires me to strategically lead, quality assure and manage a partnership of five colleges which deliver a range of generic and subject specific teacher training programmes across the Midlands. Post qualification these programmes provide successful students with the opportunity to gain the status of qualified teacher learning and skills.

Prior to this, I worked in Further Education for 23 years. My last role was Head of Centre at a large college in the East Midlands. I was required to strategically lead and operationally manage one of three main campuses. I worked effectively with key personnel to manage all aspects of the estate and facilities and to coordinate activity linked to curriculum and quality.

Before this, I held the post of Director for Business and Management in a large college in North Warwickshire, which included Professional Development Programmes and Initial Teacher Training. I was responsible for the recruitment and deployment of staff within my area, budgetary control, quality assurance, quality improvement and curriculum design and delivery.

I started my career in 1991 as a Lecturer in Computing.

I remain passionate about and committed to further education and as such hold the role of Quality Chair for the Governing Body of a large general further education college in the Midlands.

My research interests include:

· The academic vocational divide: changing societal perspective

· Leadership for learning

· Mindfulness to support the retention and well-being of teachers
