Elizabeth White works in the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) team as both co-ordinator and second year tutor.
Liz has a varied teaching career, beginning with teaching English as a Foreign Language in Italy, Romania and Japan as well as working as a volunteer learning and language support assistant in an inner city women’s refuge. After completing training to teach adults Basic Literacy skills, Liz taught adults with challenging behaviour/learning disabilities in: mainstream Further Education; a specialist residential college; community education; private training providers and the secure prison estate (both male and female). After completion of a PGCE, Liz developed an interest in using technology to engage and motivate disaffected learners, and developed a range of commercially available interactive Literacy materials for the BBC Skillswise, Learndirect, SkillsActive, CTAD, DfES/Tribal and Axis Education. Liz has delivered a range of staff development and training (locally and nationally), and has successfully managed projects to integrate skills development for two regional providers. Liz is keen to support staff to try out new technologies in a safe and supportive environment.
