My English name is May. I joined the government in 2003 as Deputy Director for the economic commission of Jiading district and in charge of the tertiary industry. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Industry Management Engineering from Zhejiang University in 1989, and received my MBA degree from Fudan University of Shanghai three years ago. Before becoming a government official, I had been a professional manager involved in manufacturing, consulting, property management and the hotel industry for 14 years. I’m vice chairwoman and the secretary general of the business association of Jiading district, and a member of the MBA program interview specialist team for the School of Management in Fudan University.
I was the first general manager of the Renaissance Shanghai Pudong Hotel which involved negotiating with the Marriott Group and being responsible for the building and opening of the hotel.
The first car made by China was manufactured in Jiading, and the Formula 1 racing circuit in China is also in our district. As the Shanghai international automobile city is based on Jiading, and Coventry is also the central industry area of automobile in UK, I’m very interested in learning how this industry integrates with the automobile manufacturing and modern services industries. I want to study how this industry influences the economy, culture and society, and hope to meet friends who can help us in developing our service industry, especially around automobiles.
I’m keen on reading and listening to music, and I am an enthusiastic amateur cook and bridge player.
