Lin, Jun - Leon

Leon in CoventryMy English name is Leon.  I graduated from Shanghai Normal University where I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Chinese Classical Literature in 1989, and then became a teacher from 1989 to 1991.  I joined the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shanghai Committee in 1991 as a civil servant.  Now I am a director of administrative office of Committee for Economic Affairs.

CPPCC is a part of the Chinese political system.  It has a similar function to the parliament of the UK.  There are eight parties working together in this organization.  My responsibility is to do some research and investigations with my boss in factories and in the countryside, then write reports and give advice to the government.  It's a busy job, but very interesting.

I am a warm-hearted person and very interested in history, so I like to read history books, watch history movies and documentaries in my spare time.  I think China and UK are both countries with long histories, but they are so different in the way they have developed.  Now that the UK is one of the most developed countries in the world, there are many things we can learn from it. That is why I come here so that I can obtain more advanced concepts and develop those experience six months later when back home.

I have a happy family.  There are three people in my family:  my wife, my daughter and I.  My wife is a doctor and my daughter is a grade 2 student.  My daughter is a smart and lovely girl:  sometimes I think I am the luckiest dad in the world!

In my leisure time, I enjoy to travelling too.  If it is possible, I would like to travel around the world.  Although I have been to lots of countries, there are still too many wonderful places in the world I have never been to.  Reading thousands of books and traveling thousands of miles  -  that's my dream.
