Assignment: Enhancing the effectiveness of your service


1. Following discussions with the module leader and your line manager, send a copy of the work below to the University of Warwick together.

2. Develop a plan for improving the effectiveness of your service or business unit (e.g. careers service, jobshop or placement team). Include an assessment of the effectiveness of current provision according to clearly identified criteria. Critically evaluate the contribution of at least one of the quality assurance frameworks available (e.g. matrix, SUEI) and show that you have taken into account the needs of stakeholders.

3. Critically evaluate the use of management information in the enhancement of effectiveness of your service or business unit. You are invited to consider current use of MI, potential future use of MI, issues in gathering and analysing such data, and recommendations for future use.

For both pieces, we ask you to show an awareness of the complexities of enhancing effectiveness in our operating contexts. Show an understanding of quality issues and the debates surrounding them, drawing from learning on the course and wider reading. Evaluate these issues in the light of your professional values and those of colleagues. Consider the role of self and others in enhancing effectiveness and make specific recommendations.

Course work will be treated confidentially by teaching, examining and administrative staff.

Coursework will be assessed against the learning outcomes described in the University of Warwick module specification and postgraduate assessment criteria. An accepted system of referencing must be used, the course version of the Harvard system is recommended for this course. Links to all these documents are available in the student handbook area of the online course space.
