Part One: Employer Related Strategy (Max 2500 words)


If your service already has an Employer Related Strategy then carry out a critical analysis of this strategy.

Option 2

If your service does not already have an Employer Related Strategy then develop one.

Consider the appropriate employer related strategy for your department. To do this you will need to look at:

  • The strategic goals of your organisation
  • An analysis of the external factors influencing your employer relations work (these may be covered in a PESTLE analysis which looks at Political, Economic, Social , Technological, Legal and Environmental factors).
  • A consideration of the internal Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT)
  • The labour market information that you have and the gaps which need filling
  • Objectives and recommendations
  • How you would measure progress.

Part two: Employer Relations Case Study (Max 2500 words)

For this assignment you will need to present a case study that accounts for your engagement with an employer. You will need to draw on good practice and current thinking in employer relations. You need to justify your reasons for choosing particular methods and strategies.

In constructing your case study, undertake a critical analysis of the following:

  1. Provide details of an employer including an analysis of the organisational structure and relevant labour market information. Use the concepts outlined by Mullins to support your analysis of the organisation.

  2. Provide an account of how your organisation, and you as an individual, engages with this employer and how this might be expanded or improved to benefit your learners.

  3. Describe any other ways in which this employer is involved with your organisation and suggest additional relationships which could be developed

  4. Suggest further ways that this employer could be encouraged to contribute.

  5. Consider how relationships with this employer reflect your Employer Relations Strategy
