Initial Teacher Training in the Centre for Lifelong Learning exists to provide high-quality teacher education and professional development for those working in the FE and Skills sector.

We offer a wide variety of Initial Teacher Training and CPD courses. Please select any courses in which you are interested to find out more. Most FE organisations will require a teacher to hold the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training or the PGDE, if they are in the full teaching role (Full or part-time)
Postgraduate Diploma (Level 7)

The Postgraduate Diploma in Education is for anyone teaching or interested in teaching in a Further Education and skills settings who already holds a degree at undergraduate level.

Diploma and Certificate in Education and Training (Levels 4-5)
Develop practical teaching skills and prepare to work in a wide range of contexts at Level 4. Training if you aspire to, or hold, a teaching role with an extensive range of teaching or training responsibilities, including those in more than one context at Level 5. Option to Specalise in English:Literacy, Mathematics:Numeracy, SEND.
Diploma in Teaching (Levels 5 - CPD)

For professionals currently qualified to teach in the sector. Develop your knowledge and understanding of specific subjects, SEND, English:Literacy, Mathematics, Functional English or train to support teachers to deliver support to GCSE learners in Mathematics and English.

Other Courses
These course will cover a range of topics including differing contexts for learning support, the role of the support practitioner, key values and principles which underpin learning support practice. You can study specific subjects such as Coaching and Mentoring, Functional English, Functional Mathematics, Functional Skills, Supporting Learning in FE and Skills Sector and SEND and Disabilities in the FE sector.
