GCSE Mathematics Enhancement Support Programme

WMCETT is now running an additional Mathematics Enhancement Programme in the summer term 2015.

Information about the course content can be read right, or below. The Education and Training Foundation subsidises the programme but the subsidy has been reduced from last year, so it will now cost £200 per person for the six-day course.

The venue and dates are as follows:

In 2013-14, WMCETT worked with the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) to deliver the GCSE Maths Enhancement Programme in the West Midlands. We ran 19 courses around the West Midlands, and a further two early in 2015, at the same subsidised price of £100 per participant in the West Midlands.

The six-day CPD programme is designed to enable teachers in the FE and skills sector who are already involved in numeracy or functional maths teaching to enhance their knowledge so that they can teach GCSE effectively.

The course focuses on key elements of the GCSE syllabus that are not covered in Functional Mathematics - specifically algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and statistics. The aim is to both consolidate knowledge and understanding of key GCSE topics, and provide ideas on approaches, activities and resources for teaching GCSE maths.

The programme was heavily subsidised by the Education & Training Foundation, and cost just £100 per person.
All six sessions of a course must be attended, and each session is a full day, including lunch.
