HWSTPA Learning Achievement Awards, 18 September 2008

Sharron Davies MBE, Olympic silver medallist and TV presenter, came hot foot from the Olympics in Beijing to be guest of honour at the annual Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire Training Providers Association learning achievement awards evening at Worcester Rugby Club on 18 September.

The evening included the work based practitioners award, sponsored by WMCETT, for individuals passionate about teaching, training and professional development.

The award winners, one from each of the three counties, demonstrated a significant effort not only to their own development but also in supporting and contributing to the development of others. The overall winner, Steven Harrison, recently took part in a work based trainer mentoring pilot through a WMCETT action research project.

Steven was surprised and excited by the award which he hoped would be an incentive to other teacher trainers to embrace professional development.
