'Professionalising the Workforce' Case Studies

 
Purpose

To identify the impact of the new workforce reforms (both ITE/ITT and CPD), and to produce a series of case studies across a range of provider types to illustrate various issues and impact on learners (trainees), teacher educators and organisations and generally on workforce capacity planning.

 
Specification

The case studies will enhance our understanding of workforce development by, for example,:

  • assisting providers to implement workforce development reforms through action research projects
  • evaluating specific workforce development reforms to identify key success factors and barriers, and how they can be overcome
  • identifying the impact of workforce development reforms on teachers
  • identifying the impact of workforce development reforms on learners
  • identifying the impact of workforce development reforms on learning providers
  • identifying the impact of workforce development reforms on strategic developments in, for example, 14-19, Skills for Life, and achievement targets in World Class Skills

The case studies will include:

  • a spread across the FE system to include FE colleges, WBL, AVC, offender learning etc
  • a spread across the FE system in size of provision and geographical location
  • a spread of involvement by teachers, tutors, trainers and teacher developers
