Professional Dialogue seminars 2010-11

WMCETT has run a second series of Professional Dialogue seminars during the 2010-11 academic year, and they have again attracted a lot of interest.

They are organised by WMCETT and the Forum, a partnership of the universities of Warwick, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, Worcester and Birmingham City, which all oversee ITT programmes. In both series of Professional Dialogue seminars teacher training professionals were invited to exchange ideas and share best practice on subjects of educational interest.

The first in this series took place in November at the RAF Cosford museum. It focused on Ofsted inspections, preparation for them and the impact they had on practice. A report on the seminar by Vron Leslie, WMCETT's Priority Area Co-ordinator for ITT, can be accessed on the right, along with powerpoint slides shown by Jill Hardman, WMCETT Project Co-ordinator. You can also read a document giving Ofsted advice on writing pen portraits, and an example created by Jill Hardman of a completed pen portrait.

The second was held in March at the University of Warwick and focused on teaching theories and principles of learning and communication, and also on the impact of CPD on practice. A report can be read, right.

The third was in May, again at RAF Cosford, and looked at the requirements for the revised PTLLS. The learning outcomes between the current PTLLS and the revised one were compared, and the impact of the revised PTLLS standards on curriculum design were examined. There is a report on the event, right, and powerpoint slides used by Dot Powell, a consultant to LLUK, which were shown on the day.
