In 2008 WMCETT launched a project to work closely with ITT teams in partner colleges to enhance the quality of provision across the region.
The Teacher Educator Initiative (TEI) enabled ITT teams in WMCETT partner colleges to bid for up to £3,000 to undertake a CPD project of their choosing which would benefit the whole teacher training team.
The 10 successful colleges have all now completed their projects and written final reports. Representatives of the participating colleges and other partner colleges met at a showcase event at the University of Warwick in summer 2009 to share the results of their projects. They made presentations using a syndicate carousel approach which enabled questions to be raised on the projects and on wider implications for teacher educators.
Following the presentations teacher educators were invited to complete reflective evaluations on the key points they had taken from the discussion. These comments covered four main areas:
- Technology to enhance learner engagement
- Mentor engagement
- Curriculum and programme development
- General comments
The reflections and learning points taken have been collated and are summarised in the feedback document available here.
