Knowing your learners means being able to recognise, acknowledge and teach to meet the educational and psychological needs of each learner.
Effective educators understand how learners differ in their approaches to learning and take time to know their learners which builds trust, rapport and connection with learning.
From recruitment through to Induction there are many opportunities to know your learners and some areas which are useful to consider are:
Who are your learners? What are their interests, attitudes, barriers to learning, learning styles, learning needs...
How much do your learners already know? What is their previous knowledge, experience, competence, core skills...
