The Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring offers you a foundation of relevant models and practical skills that will equip you to engage in purposeful coaching and mentoring conversations and relationships.
If you are new to coaching and mentoring this course has been developed for you, focussing on the development of core coaching skills: listening, questioning and structuring a coaching and mentoring conversation.
The Diploma in Coaching aims to enable you to deepen your knowledge of the theory and practice of coaching. By the end of the programme you will have built on your core coaching skills and developed clarity around your coaching presence and your unique coaching approach. Coaching is at the heart of the diploma, so there is a strong coaching ethos to delivery, with participants taking responsibility for their own learning and development. Good coaching skills are developed through knowledge, awareness through reflection and skills practice. The programme is designed to develop a community of learning, so that all students learn together and from each other.
You will study the history of, and all three main modalities of counselling: Psychoanalytic, Cognitive behavioural and Humanistic/person-centred. You will also get an introduction to what it is like to work as a counsellor or psychotherapist, including training, professional, ethical and cultural considerations. The course will be helpful if you wish to proceed to the Degree in Person-centred Counselling and the Psychotherapeutic Relationship.
