Carmina Micelli is a fourth year PhD student enrolled in the MIBTP (Midlands Integrative Biosciences Training Partnership) 4 year programme and funded by BBSRC (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council).
After she graduated with full marks at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy) in 2013, where she had been working for a year in computational research for the discovery of new drugs, she decided to complement her in silico research skills with in vitro study skills, to apply a combined in silico and in vitro approach to drug screening. In 2014, she had been a visiting student at IRB (Institute for Research in Biomedicine) in Barcelona (Spain), where she got first hands on experience in protein expression, purification, and crystallization. In 2016, she has successfully passed her first year training as part of the MIBTP programme, and she is currently working full time on her PhD project at the School of Life Sciences at University of Warwick.
