My Bio

In September 2016 I joined the Warwick IFP team at the University of Warwick and became the Director for Student Experience and Progression (DSEP). I am also the convenor for the SSLC, the Experience Committee and the Criminology module. I have delivered IFP Sociology and have had a personal tutor role on the Warwick IFP since 2010 as well as teaching A-Level Sociology and Critical Thinking in previous institutions. Since May 2014 I have had oversight of the Warwick IFP in various management roles, initially as the Programme Leader and then as Assistant Head of International provision at Stratford-upon-Avon College. In 2015 and 2016 I was presented with the Warwick Staff Award but I had more pride in seeing my students win Warwick IFP Achievement and Progress Awards each year. Furthermore, two of my A-Level Sociology students were awarded the DCS plc Europe Award for Humanities in 2010 and 2012 respectively.

I am excited about the next stage in the development of the Warwick IFP, in which students will now have a chance to immerse themselves into campus life which will undoubtedly improve their experience of the programme socially as well as academically.

I graduated with a BA in Sociology from the University of Leicester and completed my PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) in Social Science in 2008, in the School of Education, also at the University of Leicester.

My Sociological research interests lie primarily in the Sociology of Ethnicity and Identity, as well as Sport, particularly football, focussing specifically on spectator behaviour, policing, fan culture, globalisation, the commercial landscape and its role in the construction of identity, including its relationship to constructions of social class, race and gender.

I enjoy reading, watching movies as well as watching and playing football and cricket. My taste in music is very diverse, it ranges from Grime and Hip-Hop to bands such as Years & Years, Prides and Walking on Cars. I also enjoy watching combat sports such as boxing and MMA and I am trained in Krav Maga to Intermediate level (G2).
