My Bio
I have been teaching Physics on the Warwick IFP Programme (formerly HEFP) since 2002. I completed my PhD in Condensed Matter Physics at the University of Leeds in 1993, thesis title: Quantum interference and electron interaction effects in amorphous alloys. I became a Research Fellow in Physics at Leeds University on completion of my PhD focussing on Quantum interference, magnetoresistance, electron-interaction effects and the Hall effect in disordered systems. I took up a Senior Lectureship position at the University of Limpopo in South Africa in 1996 where I taught Physics at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I was the Deputy Head of the Mathematics and Science foundation programme. I have a number of research publications and presented papers at national and international conferences in Condensed Matter Physics.
I returned to the UK in 2002 and taught at Warwickshire College in Leamington Spa where I gained considerable post-16 experience. I taught a range of Physics and Mathematics courses including Warwick IFP Physics, A-level Physics, International Baccalaureate Diploma Physics and Forensic Science. I have been a Personal Tutor for groups on A-level programmes, Forensic Science and international students on the Warwick IFP. I also served as Senior Curriculum Leader for Mathematics and Science and Team Leader of Forensic Science. I have been involved in various aspects of curriculum development activities such as designing new courses and modules, development and review of student materials, preparation of examination papers, assessment and internal verification.
I believe in team work and sharing good practices and am keen to learn new approaches and intiatives by working closely with fellow members of staff and taking on board constructive feedback from students. I won the Warwick IFP staff award in 2015.
I joined the University of Warwick in September 2016 and I look forward to new experiences, opportunities and challenges.
