My Bio

I have been teaching on the Warwick IFP since 2016, having previously taught the core undergraduate module Introduction to Politics in the Politics and International Studies department at the University of Warwick since 2013. I have completed a PhD in Politics here at Warwick with my research considering questions of democracy and legitimacy in the European Union, focusing particularly on the European Citizens' Initiative. My educational background includes an MA in Politics from the University of Warwick and a BA in Politics from the University of Westminster. I am passionate about politics and international relations particularly when it comes to democracy, power, political ideologies and British and EU politics, and my motivation as a teacher is driven by a desire to pass on this passion.

I have also been engaged in widening participation and educational activities outside of the University. Between 2014 and 2016 I worked with IGGY, an online social and academic network for gifted and talented 13-18 year olds from around the world, preparing academic content, engaging with the members, conducting outreach activities with schools and ensuring the safety of the online community. In addition I undertook the role of PhD Tutor with The Brilliant Club in 2013, delivering university-style courses on the European Union to KS3 and KS4 students from low participation in higher education areas with a widening participation objective. My role as Widening Participation Officer for Warwick Foundation Studies enables me to continue developing my interest and activities in this area. My other past roles include four years as a Parliamentary Assistant to an MP and eighteen months as a research fellow for an independent think tank.

I have a Postgraduate Award in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. In 2015 I was nominated for a Warwick Award for Teaching Excellence for Postgraduates who Teach.

Outside of teaching I can normally be found gardening, baking or zipping around the countryside on my Vespa.
