The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) is an organisation made up of German higher education institutions and their student bodies. The DAAD is funded by the German government and aims to support students in Germany and abroad who have demonstrated outstanding academic ability. Founded in 1925, with the desire to encourage an open dialogue between cultures and enhance academic collaborations, the DAAD has supported around two million scholars in Germany and abroad.
