Warm Welcome Scholarship Scheme 2022

Warwick is proud to partner with the British Council to provide financial assistance to eligible candidates in the UK, who have links to Afghanistan, to access UK higher education.

Warm Welcome Scholarships will support eligible candidates looking to undertake full-time in-person studies at UK universities at undergraduate (UG), postgraduate taught (PGT) and postgraduate research (PGR) level.

The Award

Successful candidates will receive a scholarship covering the tuition fees for the duration of their programme of study and a stipend to support with accommodation and living expenses.
The stipend for undergraduates is £12,667 per year and £16,068 per year for postgraduates.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates must have applied and have an offer, to study an undergraduate, masters or PhD level course at Warwick and fall into one of the following categories:

1. Afghanistan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) resettlement route

2. Afghanistan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) resettlement route

3. Those with links to Afghanistan who are already registered at a UK university and are experiencing financial hardship due to the situation in Afghanistan

4. Afghan British Nationals (ABNs), described for these purposes as those that were evacuated during Operation Pitting and who entered bridging accommodation or who presented as homeless to a council, but hold British citizenship or some other status that permits them to remain and reside in the UK without the need to be granted leave to remain.

Shortlisted candidates will be required to provide proof of residency/immigration status.

If you meet the eligibility criteria stated above and have submitted an application to Warwick, please complete the webform linked here to indicate that you wish to be considered.

Applicants selected by Warwick will then need to apply to the British Council via the dedicated platform.


Applications to the scholarship must be submitted before 17th June 2022. Selected candidates will be notified on or before 1st July 2022.
