How did you find out about Warwick?

The first time I heard about Warwick Business School was from my boss at BP where I worked previously. The president of BP Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Region was alumni of Warwick Business School (WBS). He was the major inspiration for considering WBS for MBA studies. His leadership style impressed me in many instances. Later, when I moved to the largest investment company in Azerbaijan, the deputy CEO of the company was again alumni of WBS. Both persons distinguished with their leadership capabilities. Studying at Warwick Business School, now I can certainly state that this school not only gives knowledge and skills but also nurtures global leaders.

Did you consider applying anywhere else? What made you choose Warwick?

Initially I was considering MBA studies in the USA. However, the length and cost of studies diverted my plans to the UK. I visited UK few times and checked few universities. After brief research, I was convinced that studying in the UK would be good fit for me in terms of the quality of universities. Warwick Business School stood out from other universities with its focus on change making. When I started the research on the university selection, WBS stood out for me for its values: Curiosity, Openness, Restlessness and Excellence. It perfectly aligned with my personal values. I am extremely curious personality with restless mindset. There are also other factors that counted while I was selecting the right fit for me. One of these factors was the university ratings. Although the university rankings do not tell you whether it is right for you, it tells about the quality of education.

Did you contact the University or department prior to application?

When I found about Warwick, I contacted alumni of the university to learn about their experiences. Their feedback made me feel assured that Warwick Business School is the right choice.

How did you find the application process?

The application process was straightforward. I applied myself without any help. I was also lucky to receive scholarship from Warwick Business School which made me able to join the school this year. Visa application also went smoothly.

How are you funding your studies?

I received partial scholarship from Warwick Business School. The rest is self-funded.

How was your arrival? What were your first impressions of campus?

I received an accommodation on campus which made it really easy to transition to the studies. Orientation week was very memorable as we started with team building. Knowing each other was a great excitement. Students from all over the world with diverse backgrounds came together after similar goals. The first week was lots of fun where we built airplanes, walked blindfolded trusting the instructions of teammates and many more.

What is the best thing about Warwick?

I think the university environment stimulates studying. There is always something interesting going on in the university. Its location is also one of attractive sides of Warwick. There are many lakes around and it is very green. Waking up in the mornings and going for a run around campus is simply revitalizing.

Have you had chance to travel much during your studies?

During the first term, we travelled to the Wales to Snowdonia for hiking. It was very memorable trip. The landscape was mesmerizing. Apart from that, I travelled to Netherlands during the weekend and Spain during the Christmas break. As part of studies, we will travel to Ireland for attending technology trek and Shanghai for getting insights on the business environment in China.
