How did you find out about Warwick?

I have been in contact with Dr. Sada Daoud, Syria representative at Warwick, and gained a good amount of information about Warwick.

Did you consider applying anywhere else? What made you choose Warwick?

I have also considered Cambridge, UCL, and Nottingham.

Warwick University prides itself to be truly cosmopolitan and the staff there combine excellence and professionalism as well. It has also been continuously ranked among the top ten universities in the UK. Interestingly, being a Warwick graduate means well for employment as it is ranked highly globally for the employability rate. Most importantly, the course it offers is practice-oriented and tackles global educational issues. The critical aspect of this course has deepened my knowledge and developed my perspectives about international trends in the world of education. The intersectionality of education, society and all the other aspects of life in this course has prepared me well to make change and lead it worldwide.

Did you contact the university prior to application?

I contacted mainly Dr Sada and the postgraduate office as well.

How did you find the application process?

I applied myself. The visa application guide provided by Warwick was very important to clarify how to proceed in the application.

How was your arrival? What were your first impressions of campus?

I arrived in the end of the welcome week. I did not have much time to learn about the university from the very beginning, but afterwards one can get that knowledge by meeting friends and attending the events held on a daily basis. It is a little bit of confusion until you find your feet. Being in an entirely new environment with students from all over the world can be difficult sometimes in the beginning, but it was not the case for me anyways.

What is the best thing about studying at Warwick?

I liked the campus when I first arrived. It is huge and modern, and the greenery is breathtaking! I also admire the teaching staff. They are excellent, kind, open and supportive.

What do you think of your accommodation?

The accommodation is very nice; I am staying on campus in Claycroft 2 which is near to almost everything at university. There are breathtaking views near my flat. You can see the lake, ducks, lovely trees and flowers all over the place.

Have you joined any clubs or societies?

I joined different societies such as 'Unicef on Campus', 'Warwick STARS', 'and World@Warwick'. I attended the last one several times which holds a 'language cafe' for students to exchange different languages and enjoy meeting. However, I did not have enough time to enjoy the other societies as I was more focused on my academic attainment.

Have you managed to travel at all during your studies?

Absolutely. In the UK, I travelled to London, Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Edinburgh. I am intending to visit Wales, Manchester and Newcastle to see some friends there in May. In Europe, I travelled to Germany, France and Portugal at Christmas.

What do you plan to do when you graduate?

I am intending to pursue my academic journey and do a PhD study here at Warwick at the same department. I hope to get involved in researching and teaching at Warwick; I had been a university lecturer for 5 years before I arrived in the UK and I hope to continue in this pathway.

What advice would you give to anyone considering studying at Warwick?

My advice is to get involved as much as possible in academic and non-academic events/workshops at Warwick. Also, it is important to keep in mind that one should enjoy staying here and explore other places in the UK or abroad.

What makes you happiest about being a student at Warwick?

Its world rank in academia, employment and the cutting-edge courses it offers. I am very pleased to be a Warwick graduate.
