Advancing Access

The University of Warwick is a member of Advancing Access, an initiative of the 24 Russell Group universities which provides free CPD to teachers and advisers in schools and colleges. The initiative aims to enable teachers and advisers to support their students to make successful applications to some of the UK’s most competitive universities. This free service provides:

  • Free CPD sessions delivered in your school or college. We have capacity to deliver Advancing Access sessions now in the Coventry and Warwickshire area. A list of sessions can be found at www.advancingaccess.ac.uk/request-cpd and popular sessions include:
  • Writing effective UCAS references
  • Supporting students to write personal statements
  • Supporting students to make qualification and subject choices at age 16 and 18
  • Interviews and additional admissions tests
(all sessions are subject to staff availability)
  • A large online repository of free CPD resources. These include material to support self-directed and peer to peer CPD as well as activities for use with students
  • Regular online virtual conferences and physical CPD conferences held in various locations in the UK. These include the chance to take part in webinars, CPD sessions and talk with representatives from every Russell Group university
  • A large collection of student and graduate video case studies which you can show to students to spark a discussion about their future
