Languages at Work in the World

Languages at Work in the World is aimed at encouraging Year 10 to think about the value of languages for careers and employability, why they are useful in the world of work and the different routes that students can follow should they wish to pursue their studies in this area. Following the opening interactive session Languages at Work in the World, students will attend a language based session in French, German, Spanish or Italian. This session will be led by teaching staff from French, German, Spanish and Italian and have been designed to support spontaneous language production whilst at the same time, giving students a taste of cultural studies. After a pizza lunch, students will be allocated to a new language taster session (e.g. Arabic or Russian) and we hope that they will have fun learning something completely new! At the end of the day, students will hear from our current students who will talk a little bit about what it’s like to study languages.

If schools would like to book places for Year 10 students, please could teachers email A.Videtta@warwick.ac.uk and send the names of the students and their preferred language choice either French, German, Spanish or Italian by Monday 21st November? I have organised a minibus to shuttle from Coventry Rail Station to the Westwood Teaching Centre. The minibus will leave Coventry Rail Station at 10:30am. This service is free of charge, please let me know if you would like to book any places on the minibus. The minibus will return to the Rail Station at the end of the day leaving Westwood Teaching Centre at 15:30. Refreshments and lunch will be included. Please note that pupils need to be accompanied by a member of staff and wear school uniform.
