Foundation Programmes

The Warwick International Foundation Programme

The Warwick IFP is one of the longest-running foundation programmes in the UK, and is designed for international students who require an additional year of study before they can join a UK undergraduate degree. This is typically students who have not had the opportunity to study to a level that is equivalent to A-Levels or IB Diploma.

Students who join the IFP are fully-enrolled University of Warwick students, with access to all of the University facilities, including the option for on-campus accommodation.

There are 10 different IFP courses available, allowing students to further develop their academic knowledge and skills, and prepare them for the style of teaching and learning that can be expected during a UK degree. The courses available include:

  • Arts and Humanities
  • Biological Sciences and Psychology
  • Business Management
  • Computer Science
  • Economics
  • Engineering
  • Finance
  • Law and Politics
  • Mathematics and Statistics
  • Social Sciences

Each course also includes an English for Academic Purposes module, designed to benefit all students (including those with English as a first language) and tailored to each academic discipline area.

During the IFP, students receive advice and guidance in applying for undergraduate degree courses, whether at Warwick or any other UK university . If students choose a relevant undergraduate course at Warwick, then they are guaranteed a conditional offer.

WBS Foundation Year

The WBS Foundation Year will prepare you for degree-level study at Warwick Business School. The Foundation Year gives students the opportunity to build their knowledge about business, improve some key skills that we have found to be important to succeed during the undergraduate degree, and spend a year getting used to the university environment.

We realise that there are bright, motivated students who are capable of succeeding on our courses who may not get the chance to because of circumstances beyond their control. It is well-known that students from disadvantaged backgrounds do not gain access to higher education at the same rate as other students – not because they cannot succeed, but because of barriers that make it difficult to prove they can. We believe strongly in facilitating access to these students.

Our Foundation Year students have done, and continue to do, amazing things. We would miss out on some truly incredible students if we did not have our WBS Foundation Year course, and our entire school is improved when we have a student body that reflects the rich diversity of backgrounds that exist outside of our walls. If you think you might be one of these students, someone who is motivated and eager to learn, but has not met our standard admissions criteria, please review our Foundation Year entry criteria to see if the WBS Foundation Year is suitable for you.

You will need drive and dedication to your studies to progress through the course but will receive a great deal of support from our dedicated team of academic faculty, personal tutors, former foundation year student mentors, and our administrative staff.

If you successfully complete the Foundation Year you will automatically progress to either BSc Accounting and Finance (with Foundation Year) or BSc Management (with Foundation Year) and join our direct entry students in Year 1.

The WBS Foundation Year Scholarship:

We are offering a scholarship to all students who are selected to study on the course, covering the full tuition fees of the Foundation Year (£6,750 for 2021/22 entry). Fees for subsequent years will be charged at the standard home tuition fee rate. To find out more information about the WBS Foundation Year Scholarship please click here.
