This programme of activities, based at Warwick, gives priority to students from under-represented groups as detailed in the selecting participants section of this guide.

University taster days YR 9
Arriving at Warwick, students hear about university life from current students and have an opportunity to experience a campus-style university. Students then meet academics, take part in mini subject lectures and discover the vast resources in the Library.
Preparing for university YR 10 Summer schools YRS 10&12
A series of bite-sized workshops to help students prepare for and make the most of their university experience. To include independent study skills, giving presentations, enhancing interview techniques, effective research and note taking. Three residential summer schools which take place during the week. Students experience university life, working and socialising together. The subject and content of the schools reflect the age of the learner and will include lectures, study skills and activities to help students make informed decisions as they access university. An application form will be required from students wishing to access either summer school.
Faculty taster days – three one-day events YR 12 Post-16 conference – get ready to apply YR 12
Students spend the day exploring a variety of subject options within their potential areas of study. Faculty Days provide a deeper insight into what it would be like to study specific subjects at a university, as well as providing guidance on how to apply and how to make an informed choice. ‘Get Ready To Apply’ equips students with the skills to be able to effectively research HE choices so that they can make informed decisions about their futures. Sessions covered include interactive workshops on student finance and writing personal statements as well as guidance on how to choose a course and university that is right for them.
Post-16 conference – get ready to go YR 13 Exam revision sessions one-day YR 13
‘Get Ready To Go’ is designed to help students prepare for university. Topics covered will include: talks led by the Students’ Union focusing on getting the most out of the non-academic side of university life; budgeting skills; and a live cooking demonstration with a free recipe book designed to get students actively thinking about their eating habits. Subject-specific exam revision sessions aimed at teaching students exam techniques, and exploring revision ideas on specific elements of the curriculum.
