International Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation
This module aims to provide students with a conceptual framework to understand and analyse the problems addressed by corporate governance and financial regulation. Whilst the globalisation of institutional investment is to some extent leading to convergence of corporate governance, important national differences remain, both as a matter of law and as a matter of practice. Financial regulation seeks to address the risks and potential social costs arising from the operations of banks and other financial institutions. Throughout the module, we will address the normative question of what the corporate governance and financial regulation regimes should look like and why.
Overall, the module provides students with the essential foundations of knowledge to enable them to make the most out of their optional modules and dissertation.
