Warwick may make differential offers to students in a number of circumstances. These include students participating in the Realising Opportunities programme, or who meet two of the contextual data criteria.

What is a lecture?

A lecture is usually one person talking to a large group of students. Lecturers are usually research specialists in the topic they're talking about. They will inspire you with new ideas and insights on your topic.

What is a seminar?

A seminar is a group discussion where you will take part and share your views. Seminars might have between 5 and 15 people and are often led by postgraduates (who have already completed their first degree and specialise in a similar topic).
Your seminar leader will help you to explore and understand the material together.

Tuition fees
Tuition fees are payable for each year of your course at the start of the academic year, or at the start of your course, if later. Academic fees cover the cost of tuition, examinations and registration and some student amenities.

Fee Status Guidance
We carry out an initial fee status assessment based on the information you provide in your application. Students will be classified as Home or Overseas fee status. Your fee status determines tuition fees, and what financial support and scholarships may be available. If you receive an offer, your fee status will be clearly stated alongside the tuition fee information.

If you believe that your fee status has been classified incorrectly, you can complete a fee status assessment questionnaire. Please follow the instructions in your offer information and provide the documents needed to reassess your status.

- For UK and International students, the primary funding opportunity is a 3.5-year AHRC-based scholarship, provided through Midlands 4 Cities (M4C)Link opens in a new window.
The AHRC-funded Midlands4Cities Doctoral Training PartnershipLink opens in a new window (M4C) brings together eight leading universities across the Midlands to support the professional and personal development of the next generation of arts and humanities doctoral researchers. M4C is a collaboration between the University of Birmingham, Birmingham City University, University of Warwick, Coventry University, University of Leicester, De Montfort University, Nottingham Trent University and The University of Nottingham.
M4C is awarding up to 60 fully funded doctoral studentships for UK and international applicants for 2023 through the Open Competition and 13 Collaborative Doctoral Awards.
The deadline for M4C funding is 11 January 2023 (noon) but expressions of interest should reach Film and Television Studies at Warwick no later than 30 November 2022. All proposals will be subject to internal approval. For enquiries and information related to PhD admissions, please contact the PhD admissions officer, Dr Tiago de Luca at t.de-luca@warwick.ac.uk. Our MRes/PhD Business and Management programme is fully funded. All students accepted onto the programme will have their full fees paid and will receive an annual stipend of approximately £18,000 per annum throughout their course, subject to satisfactory progress.

Economics Scholarships
There are a number of scholarships available for students looking to undertake study a Taught Masters in Economics at the University of Warwick. Below are the scholarships relevant for students looking to study within the Department of Economics.
Economics Excellence Scholarship
The Department of Economics will award one Master’s scholarship (of 100% of tuition fees) to an outstanding applicant who has firmly accepted their offer by the 20th May 2024 on one of our one-year taught MSc courses.
Economics Regional Scholarship
The Department of Economics will award two Master’s scholarships (of 50% of tuition fees) to students who are nationals of, and domiciled in any country located in Africa or South America, who have firmly accepted their offer by the 20th May 2024, on one of our one-year taught MSc courses.
Alumni Discount Scheme
If you are a Graduate of the University of Warwick and are of home or overseas fee status, you will be able to access a 10% tuition fee discount on this course.
Warwick Taught Master's Scholarship
The University of Warwick offers a number of Warwick Taught Masters Scholarships, which are available to eligible Home/EU students from under-represented groups who wish to start a postgraduate taught master's course.

The majority of students offered a place on the programme will also be offered a Departmental Scholarship consisting of a fee waiver and a maintenance award. You are not required to apply for a scholarship at the time of application for the MRes/PhD programme.

Wellbeing support and faith provision
Our continuous support network is here to help you adjust to student life and to ensure you can easily access advice on many different issues. Please do not write to members of faculty regarding supervision or entry to the PhD.
We do not recruit PhD students in this way. All of our PhD students must either complete the MRes Economics at Warwick or demonstrate they have completed a two-year MRes at another institution (with a syllabus closely matching that taught at Warwick) and achieved excellent results. If you are interested in direct entry to the PhD, please apply for the MRes/PhD in the first instance. If you are selected for an interview, you should at this stage make clear to the admissions committee that you are seeking direct entry to the PhD.

Important Dates for Law MPhil/PhD Applicants
Starting for 2024 entry, Warwick Law School now operates two admission rounds for MPhil/PhD applicants. Admission round 1 is for those applicants who wish to be considered for scholarships administered by the School of Law, the University, or national funding bodies such as the ESRC or AHRC. Admission round 2 is for those applicants who plan to either self-fund their studies or those who have (or those who hope to secure) a scholarship from outside the UK.
Admission Round 1
Admissions are open from 2 October 2023. The deadline for applications is 11 December 2023. This departmental deadline applies to all applicants wishing to be considered for:
- Chancellors International Scholarships
- The Law School Scholarships
- ESRC DTP studentships
- AHRC M4C studentships
- China Scholarship Council
- University of Warwick Scholarships
- Monash-Warwick Alliance Joint PhD Scholarships
Please note: Scholarship applicants must have been made an offer by the department before they can be considered for a scholarship. In most instances, scholarship applicants will need to submit a separate scholarship application to the relevant administering body. Deadlines for this separate application will vary. More information about the administration of relevant scholarships is available here. The departmental deadline of 11 December 2023 is in place to give the department time to process applications before scholarship selections and nominations take place.
Admission Round 2
Admissions are open from 2 October 2023. The deadline for applications is 3 June 2024. In some circumstances, with the support of the proposed supervisor, applications after this deadline might still be considered. If you wish to apply after 3 June 2024, please contact the Law School Director of Postgraduate Research to discuss your application before submitting it. Any applications submitted after 2nd August 2024 will not be considered.
