Warwick Business School
University of Warwick or WBS London
Available in Warwick or London, the Executive MBA, will equip you with the strategic leadership skills, aptitude and vision to make an immediate impact. You also have the opportunity to specialise your MBA in Healthcare, Social and Environmental Sustainability, or Entrepreneurship.
Warwick Business School’s Executive MBA is a two-year part-time course designed for experienced professionals seeking to enhance their leadership and management skills. Our world-renowned teaching and research, combined with our innovative culture and comprehensive leadership and development support, will give you the skills, aptitude and vision you need to start your own business, fast track to the C-suite, or to transform your career by redefining your next steps.
The Executive MBA can be taken as a four-day block every six weeks at WBS’ Coventry campus, or as a weekend (two days every other week) or evening course (each required module is typically taught over two evenings in a four-week period between September and July) at WBS London, The Shard.
Traditional lectures, seminars, group exercises, case studies and projects will be paired with innovative learning experiences, such as using film, drama, business simulation software and role play.
At Warwick class sizes comprise of around 45 students, whilst in London class sizes vary from 25-45 depending on format chosen.
Modules are typically 27 contact hours, which would be split across the teaching pattern of the particular module (weekends, block, or evenings).
Your learning will be assessed through a variety of methods including individual written assignments, case study analysis, group work presentations and reports.
Strategic consulting project or dissertation
You will have the choice to undertake either a strategic consulting project or traditional dissertation. The strategic consulting project focuses on practice and is based in an employment setting. You will work as part of a group on the project with 10% of your assessment being based on group work and 90% based on an individual consulting report. This is your opportunity to consolidate everything you have learnt and apply it to a real business. Academically, it tests your ability to apply your learning to real management issues. Professionally, it may well open the door to your next career move.
If you choose to undertake the dissertation option, although more academic with a focus on theory, it is still highly relevant in the world of business. It will demonstrate that you can assimilate your learning, take multiple perspectives on a business issue and explore your subject thoroughly.
You'll need at least four years' management experience and our applicants typically have ten years' professional business experience. You'll be able to evidence consistent progression including increased leadership, people management, budgetary and/or project management responsibilities.
You must have a 2:1 at undergraduate level from a UK university or the equivalent from an overseas university. However, we also welcome applications from candidates who do not have the academic qualifications but are exceptional, with a proven ability to achieve.
There are no additional entry requirements for this course.
Our electives broadly fit into the following categories:
One of your four elective choices will involve a required overseas module, taking place at one of our partner institutions. These modules are exclusively designed for WBS students and encompass subjects such as sustainability and digital innovation.
There is also the option to specialise your MBA in one of the following areas:
