Why Warwick?

Our exciting Summer School allows students to experience the excellent teaching and academic expertise that Warwick has to offer. Summer School students will discuss and debate issues with academics from top Warwick Departments. We also attract expert guest speakers and eminent public figures. In previous years, guest speakers have included Nobel Prize winner George Akerlof, the former Cabinet Secretary and Head of the UK Civil Service Lord Gus O Donnell and eminent economist Vicky Pryce.
Courses suitable for all levels
The range of courses on offer at the Summer School means that we have a course that is right for you. You might be looking to improve your core knowledge or aiming to broaden your academic skill set and study something a bit more specialised. Our students join us from a range of backgrounds, meaning engaging class discussion and insightful learning.
Each course offered at the Summer School contains 60 hours of teaching. These hours of study include lectures, seminars/workshops, revision classes, guest lectures, and study groups. You are also expected to complete 90 hours of independent study throughout the programme.
You will be awarded a certificate of attendance upon completion of the programme (see minimum attendance). If you sit the optional course assessment, you will also be sent an official University of Warwick transcript of results. This can usually be used for credit transfer at your home institution and in previous years, students who have successfully transferred credits for our courses have received 15 CATS/7.5 ECTS/3 US credits.
Engaging and Memorable Social Programme
Our social and cultural programme includes many engaging events to ensure that your experience is memorable and fun. The social programme offered showcases the local area and allows you to take a break from studying. A range of these activities, events and guest lectures are included in the tuition fee, offering great value for money. We also offer additional day trips at extra cost, so you can build a programme to suit you.
The Warwick Summer School attracts students from all over the world. Over the years we have welcomed students to our Summer School from over 62 different countries. During your three weeks, you can build an international network of like-minded people, and new friendships.

The Warwick Campus
Warwick Summer School students study on Warwick's extraordinary self-contained campus, with access to all of its amazing facilities. We have flexible teaching and learning spaces, a 24-hour library, Arts Centre and cinema, as well as a Sports and Wellness Hub with swimming pool. Across the campus, you'll find restaurants and cafes, and many green spaces including lakes, woodland, and open fields. The campus is set in nearly 300 hectares of natural countryside, where you can relax and escape from the buzz of main campus.
You can also choose to live on campus during the three-week Summer School, to really make the most of everything that the University has to offer. If you live in one of our halls of residence you have swim and gym access included.
The University at the Heart of England
London
Royal Leamington Spa and Kenilworth
Leamington Spa, set on the winding River Leam is known for its Regency architecture and broad boulevards. Great for eating out, walks in its lovely park and shopping, it's also home to some lively nightlife and very popular with Warwick students.
Kenilworth is a small town only a couple of miles from the Warwick campus, home to numerous shops, pubs and restaurants as well as Kenilworth Castle and Elizabethan Garden.
Stratford-upon-Avon
Stratford-upon-Avon, a medieval market town on the banks of the River Avon has more than 800 years of history.
Most famous for being Shakespeare's birthplace and home to the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC), you can enjoy boating on the river, lovely walks and enjoy many of the historic buildings as well as undertaking some shopping and enjoying the many cafes, bars and restaurants.
This lovely town is under 30 minutes away from the Warwick campus so you should definitely pay a visit during your time with us.
Birmingham
Birmingham, England's 2nd largest city is also a short train journey away. You can expect festivals, theatres, sport, architectural gems, shopping and great eating out from this diverse and multicultural city.
Coventry
The closest city to the University is Coventry, the UK's City of Culture for 2021 and is known for its cathedral ruins and Lady Godiva!
Coventry is just a couple of miles away from the University and provides the closest main train station.
