Simon Jones
Simon is Senior Lecturer in Marketing; he completed his MA (Marketing), MBA and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at the Bristol Business School. He has over 24 years of experience in the sport, leisure, entertainment, and tourism industries in the public and private sectors and 22 years in education.
Throughout his career, he has taught a range of topics in marketing, sport, event, and research methods. Simon's research interest is in big data and predictive modelling of customer behaviour, the subject of his doctoral thesis.
He has worked in and managed swimming pools, health and fitness facilities, leisure centres, outdoor playing fields, boating lakes, golf courses, libraries, football, rugby and athletics stadia, velodrome, community parks, catering facilities, concert venues and theatres.
His range of event management and marketing covers celebrations, weddings and theatrical performances, and medium and large events in both the community and covering international sporting events. Entertainment events include artists such as David Bowie, Elton John, and Stereophonics, just a small number from a 24-year career covering rock, pop, and comedy performances. Other events include cultural (BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Shakespeare Company, and the Moscow State Ballet), car fairs, toy fairs, fashion shows, circus performances, conferences, corporate business, political events (Prime Minister and MPs) and Royal events.
He has extensive experience working with local, regional, and national health/fitness promotions, social marketing programmes, and campaigns.
Simon is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, a Member of the Digital Marketing Institute and the Royal Photographic Society.
