Geocaching on Campus

Geocaching on Campus

An analogue treasure hunt using digital technology to find surprises and feel a bit like a spy!

Geocaching is an outdoor fun activity, where players use a GPS and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world.

A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and sometimes a pen or pencil. The geocacher signs the log with their username and dates it, in order to prove that they found the cache. After signing the log, the cache must be placed back exactly where the person found it. Larger containers such as plastic storage containers or boxes can also contain items for trading, such as toys or gadgets, usually of more sentimental worth than financial.

We've launched 9 brand new caches for Warwick Presents on a loop around some of the well known and more hidden parts of campus.

How to play:

  1. You need to sign up for a free account on geocaching.com
  2. Download the Geocaching app for iOS or Android
  3. Turn your location settings on
  4. Go to campus and open the app. You should see a map with all live nearby caches displayed.

The Warwick Presents caches are:

  • WP#1 - Lynchgate Wall
  • WP#2 - The Big Takeaway
  • WP#3 - Don't Let Go
  • WP#4 - Allotted Time
  • WP#5 - Tocil Weed
  • WP#6 - Connection 2 Kenilworth
  • WP#7 - Warwick Greenway
  • WP#8 - The Good and The Bad
  • WP#9 - RB 211 524 DH

Intrigued? Then get out there and seek them out! The first time is hard but you'll get used to spotting the perfect hiding places or something odd at the location. It might not be what you expect so be prepared to try anything!

There are other caches on or around campus too, so once you've logged all 9 of these, get hunting further and further!
