Stories from the Institute

We're so proud of all we've achieved over the last year. We couldn't have done it without the help of the hundreds of staff and students we've been working with. Our infographics show off the scale of what we've achieved, but these are some of the fantastic stories that sit behind the numbers...

The Resonate Festival

the resonate festival. exploring ideas togetherOur City of Culture celebrations have been a wonderful source of inspriation for the whole team. Celebrating the power of creativity, conversation and connection, The Resonate Festival launched in May 2021 and brings a 12-month programme of inspiring and interactive events (many free) for people of all ages across Coventry and Warwickshire to spark ideas, curiosity and creativity. Resonate culminates in a grand finale – a three-day live festival on campus in April 2022. You can explore our Stories from Resonate, or visit the Resonate Festival website to see events coming up.

URSS Projects

URSS (Warwick's Undergraduate Research Support Scheme) allows students to receive a bursary of up to £1,500 to carry out a summer research project. WIE teamed up with the URSS team to give students the opportunity to do public engagement alongside their research projects. These are two of the activities from the first round of projects featuring engagement.

Placements with WIE

This year we've hosted four placement students in the Institute. Two PhD level students from the Midlands Integrative Biosciences Training Partnership, and two UG students from the Psychology module "Placement, Outreach and Engagement". We've loved working closely with the students and hearing their thoughts and ideas on how we can do more to support the student population. If you want to do a placement with us drop us an email to wie@warwick.ac.uk to chat further.

Stories of Fellowship

Fellows are the life blood of our Institute. Without their support and the fantastic contribution our Learning Circles make, we wouldn't have made half the progress we have. We're on the lookout for new Fellows right now - why not take a look at what these current Fellows had to say about their time with us so far and then head over to our Fellowship pages to apply yourself?

Graduate Stories

Our Public Engagement: Connecting Communities to Research module launched in 2020. The module takes 10 weeks and sees students joining us from departments all over Warwick. They've produced wonderful videos, blogs and even a live event of their own. Two of our graduated students have been in touch to share their reflections on taking part in the module and what they've gained from the experience. The module runs through IATL and will be open to all second, third, and fourth year students to choose as a module option for next year.
