Warwick Christmas Lectures 2025

Call out for lecture presenters

Would you like to share your passion for science with over a thousand school children, young people, families and adults? We are looking for enthusiastic and engaging scientists to take the stage in Warwick Arts Centre’s Butterworth Hall in November and December 2025.

The annual award-winning Warwick Christmas Lectures aim to inspire and engage the next generation of scientists. Running for over 10 years, this is a key event in our festive calendar in engaging our community. We want to break down the barriers to science by making Warwick’s cutting-edge research accessible and engaging to a family audience.

You must be available for one of the performance dates:

  • Wednesday 26th November, evening
  • Wednesday 10th December, evening

View the PDF below to learn how to apply to be a presenter at the 2025 Christmas Lectures. Applications close Friday 4th July at 10am.

Get involved in a quiz-format Christmas Lecture

If you're interested in being part of the 2025 Christmas Lectures but are unsure that you have enough content or confidence to do a whole show then keep reading - our Associate Director, Dr Kerry Baker, is applying to deliver her quiz-format Christmas Lecture this year and is looking for people to help!

Kerry's show is made up of three quiz questions. Each question has three possible answers and the answer is chosen when the audience make the loudest noise. The correct answer is then followed by an explanation and a demo. Kerry is looking for anyone from across the university to help devise these questions and do the demos on stage. We will have volunteers on stage as well, and last time we custard-pied the volunteers (and Kerry!) for getting the answer wrong. The show is very loud, very fun and a great way to have a go at this kind of activity without having all the responsibility - Kerry will be on stage the whole time and lead the main content, your role is to do the demo and help with the general running of the show (if you want to).

If this is of interest please email Kerry directly so the two of you can arrange a time to meet and talk through ideas. Small groups are also welcome to get in touch - it doesn't just have to be individuals.
