Call for papers - Covid-19 special sessions
EurOMA 2020 Covid-19 call for special session proposals
The Covid-19 pandemic is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges of recent times. For example, there have been well-publicised shortages of medical supplies and food-driven by challenges in both demand and supply underpinned by the length and fragility of global supply chains. Other challenges that we face include how to manage healthcare operations in these uncertain times and, when we return to a “new normal”, how will organisations recover rapidly? Indeed, entire sectors – as diverse as aviation, hospitality and oil&gas - are at risk of collapsing, and numerous companies will inevitably have to rethink their processes and business models.
Operations and supply chain management scholars can clearly offer some insights that can assist organisations and policymakers in addressing these challenges. Therefore, we are seeking proposals from colleagues interested to chair a special session at the EurOMA 2020 conference to discuss challenges related to the Covid-19 pandemic and to suggest what we, as a community of scholars, can do to address them. This can cover a range of topics.
If you are interested, please submit a short proposal (max 1 page), covering the following:
- What are the main goals of this special session? Please focus on practical impacts as well as opportunities for research.
- What are the principal topics that will be covered?
- How will the session offer a high quality and high-level learning experience for the participants?
- Please include short biographies of all contributors at the end.
The session will be 90 minutes long and will be delivered online on either 29th or 30th June 2020.
The deadline for proposals is Tuesday 5th May 2020.
We will reply to you by Thursday 7th May 2020.
