Ian Stewart is Professor of Mathematics at the University of Warwick. He is an active research mathematician in the field of chaos theory and the author of many popular science books. In 1995 he was awarded the Royal Society's Michael Faraday Medal for furthering the public understanding of science and his joint book The Science of Discworld (co-authored with Terry Pratchett and Jack Cohen) was nominated for a Hugo award at the 2000 World Science Fiction Convention.
