Our students are unique in their interests and ambitions. The nature of our courses mean that we have students from a variety of subject backgrounds. There is no requirement for students to have taken Art and Design, nor will it be detrimental to your application.
We look forward to receiving your application to study one of our courses. If you would like to discuss our courses in more depth, or want to chat to a member of the department about design studies, then we are happy to arrange a meeting. These can be in person and include a campus tour, or online via Microsoft Teams, and is a great opportunity for us get to know you and your interests. We would love to speak to you about where your interests lie and how we can help you design a degree around your passions. Your parents are very welcome to join too.

If you’re hanging off for a year, the Student Loans Company (SLC) will be able to prevent your fees being sent until you are ready to go to university. They will also allow you to resubmit the information that they need to get your loans in place for your return. Or you can apply for your funding during your year out in preparation for your return to uni (just don’t leave it too late – the funding application window normally opens around about May for entry in September).
