Autoethnography Reading Group

Welcome to the Autoethnography Reading Group!

Are you interested in exploring the diverse narratives of personal experience and cultural understanding?

What is Autoethnography?

Autoethnography is a research approach that blends autobiography and ethnography, allowing individuals to explore and understand their own experiences within the context of culture and society. It emphasises subjective experiences, emotions, and reflections, offering unique insights into the complexities of human existence.

About the Reading Group

Our reading group provides a supportive and engaging environment for individuals interested in exploring autoethnography as an approach to research. Whether you're a seasoned researcher, a student, or simply curious about the method, all are welcome to participate in our discussions. We often have nibbles, drinks and snacks too.

Upcoming Sessions

We meet in Ramphal 2.23

25th July 2024 17:30 - 19:00

The meeting can also be hybrid so get in touch if you can't make it but would like to join online

For this month’s July session Jamie will be presenting his research project on loneliness. This will be your opportunity to see how an autoethnographic research project is proposed and commenced. Jamie has been conducting autoethnographic enquiry for about 2 years and will be starting his PhD at Warwick in September.

This session will also give room for people attending to talk about their challenges and perhaps we can brainstorm ways that autoethnography can be used more intentionally to enhance the relevance of work.
